InterCommunity’s Adult Services cater to those 18+ with and without insurance. Those without insurance will visit the 281 Main St. location and can receive services if they live in the towns of East Hartford, Glastonbury, Marlborough, Newington, Rocky Hill and Wethersfield. If you want to receive services, don’t have insurance and don’t live in one of these six towns please call InterCommunity and you will be directed to the necessary agency. Those with insurance looking to receive services will visit the InterConnections site located at 893 Main Street, Suite 203 in the new St. Francis Hospital building located in downtown East Hartford. InterCommunity provides a wide range of different types of therapy to adults living with a mental illness and/or addiction disorder, including group, family, and individual therapy using evidenced based practices (researched interventions which have been proven effective for specific issues).Therapy at InterCommunity is client centered and recovery oriented meaning clients are empowered to work with therapists in determining the goals, frequency, and length of treatment. Working collaboratively, clients at InterCommunity gain the insight, skills, and support needed to overcome their challenges and regain a sense of happiness, hope and success. Because people enter services at InterCommunity in various stages of readiness for recovery, InterCommunity does its best to support clients at the level of intensity that suits them best. Options for frequency of service can vary from weekly groups, to less frequent individual therapy, to “walk in” groups for those who are not able or ready to attend regularly scheduled therapy appointments.
InterCommunity provides medication management to adults living with a mental illness and/or substance abuse disorders. Psychiatrists, APRNs, LCSWs, counselors and nurses facilitate a range of individualized treatments to address both a need for medication. Case Management Program/Recovery Pathways: The goal of the Community Support Program is to assist people in recovery to achieve an optimal quality of life and community living by working in collaboration with the person, teaching them the necessary skills to live independently in the community, and getting them linked to essential services. The Community Support Program(CSP) and Recovery Pathways(RP) focuses on rehabilitation. InterCommunity believes individuals with mental health (or with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse) disorders can recover and lead full lives in their communities. A program composed of a team of Employment Specialists, who work with people in recovery to obtain and maintain part or full-time employment in integrated, competitive jobs within the community. The Employment Specialists carries out all areas of employment services, including program intake and assessment, engagement, job placement, job development, benefits counseling, job coaching and follow-along until a step down, less intensive level is achieved. Participants within the program will obtain jobs that are based on choices which reflect their preferences, strengths, etc.; service is highly individualized and person centered. The Social Rehabilitation program, Common Ground, is a member-driven program which provides social, cultural, educational, rehabilitative and recreational opportunities as well as peer support and peer run programs. This innovative program not only addresses life management, interpersonal, daily living, and pre vocational skills, but it also facilitates many special events and trips throughout the year, including a week-long camping trip every summer. In July 2010 InterCommunity's Social Rehabilitation Club, Common Ground took a week-long camping trip to the Shenandoah Mountains in Virginia. The WISE program seeks to move individuals with mental health problems from nursing homes into the community. InterCommunity is proud to partner with Advanced Behavioral Health in providing community supports and on-going services for these individuals. Most people who come out of an inpatient hospital stay or partial hospital program still don’t feel quite themselves. Symptoms such as depression or and anxiety may still linger and some may question if the medication is really working. Even those who feel much better may feel unsure about going back to the environment or situation that led them to feel overwhelmed. InterCommunity's SECURE program is here to help folks dealing with this transition feel more secure. InterCommunity’s SECURE program provides the guidance and supportive environment needed to help people transition back into the community and help them find the quality of life that they want. The SECURE program uses a team of professionals and consumers to lead skill building classes, insight oriented therapy, medication management, and improve social supports.
