Assessment Center
The Assessment Center acts as the front door and emergency department for InterCommunity. During times of crisis, we are here to help clients regain control and develop a plan to move out of crisis and into recovery. We assist clients by offering 24 hour-a-day telephone counseling and triage, comprehensive clinical assessments six days a week, and mobile crisis assessments from 8:00am until 10:00pm, 7 days a week.

Outpatient Services
The Outpatient Clinic provides therapy, counseling and medication management to adults living with a mental illness and/or addiction disorder. Psychiatrists, social workers, counselors and nurses facilitate a range of individualized treatments to address both need for medication and as well as therapy. At InterCommunity we work in conjunction with our community supports to provide clients with a full range of resources and referral options to aid in their recovery process. Therapy services may include individual and group, as well as family meetings and meetings with other members of a client support system. Members of the outpatient clinic have a variety of specialty areas and are available to consult with other community caregivers and serve as a resource for them.

Outpatient Children's Clinic OPCC & East Hartford Schools
In response to community need and an adherence to the agency’s mission statement, InterCommunity has expanded our service delivery to the child and adolescent populations within our communities. As of September 2008 InterCommunity provides comprehensive psychiatric and clinical services to the children, adolesecents, and families at our 287 Main Street location. InterCommunity also works with the East Hartford school system ot provide psychiatric evaluations and consultations within East Hartford schools.

Project Safe
Project SAFE was initially developed in 1995 to improve the child protection system by screening for substance abuse. Project SAFE was one of the first programs to directly link the child protection system with the adult substance abuse treatment system on a statewide basis. InterCommunity partners with DMHAS, DCF, and Advanced Behavioral Health in providing priority access to substance abuse evaluations, drug screens, and outpatient treatment services. The results of Project SAFE have also provided the court system with necessary information regarding access to and availability of substance abuse services in Connecticut.

Family Education & Support Group
InterCommunity has made a firm commitment to encourage more family participation within the agency. Family Members have access to a weekly, facilitated support group that also includes an education component which includes a monthly presentation by a program leader from InterCommunity. This group meets weekly on Thursday evenings from 6:00pm to 7:30pm in the lower level of 281Main Street building. There is no registration requirement or fee associated with the group. Supervised Housing Services
Supervised Housing programs are located offsite in East Hartford. Program staff are available 24/7 and the office is housed in an apartment, which is in very close proximity to all clients enrolled in the program. This program also encompasses supervised, HUD, and Pilots initiatives. The goal of these programs is to assist people in recovery to live as independently as possible in community-based residences. Program staff provide assistance with all areas of daily living, community integration, education assistance, counseling, assistance with the management of personal finances and budgeting, improving communication skills, use of leisure time and other activities. Staff also assists in finding, obtaining and maintaining safe and affordable housing.

Community Support Services
The goal of the Community Support Program is to assist people in recovery to achieve an optimal quality of life and community living by working in collaboration with the person, teaching them the necessary skills to live independently in the community and getting them linked to essential services. The role of the Community Support Specialist, is to help address and identify the person’s needs, encourage and support the use of community services, assist people in understanding how and when to use available services and provide coaching and encouragement. These services include support housing and case management. Community Support Specialists also provide linkages to community services & community based programs.

Employment Services
The goal of the Employment Services Program is to assist people in recovery in finding, obtaining and maintaining competitive employment. Employment Specialists may provide on site job coaching, job development, functional vocational training, assistance in completing job applications, resume development and interview preparation and general counseling around job related items. Employment Specialists can also assist people in recovery with enrolling in GED classes and assist with the enrollment of individuals in local colleges and universities.

Social Rehab Services
The Social Rehabilitation program, Common Ground, is a member driven program, which provides social, cultural, educational, rehabilitative and recreational opportunities as well as peer support and peer run programs. Individuals who utilize this service will work on developing the necessary skills to become better able to function within the community and social situations. Individualized Recovery Planning is developed in collaboration with staff. Items addressed in the program are life management skills, interpersonal skills, daily living skills and prevocational skills are also provided. Program newsletters are developed by members on a monthly basis. The program facilitates many special events throughout the year, such as, Acadia (Maine) camping trips, trips to local events and activities, etc.

WISE
The The WISE program seeks to move individuals with mental health problems from nursing homes into the community. InterCommunity is proud to partner with ABH in providing community supports and on-going services for these individuals.
